This morning on McGuire Road west of Prest Road the closest gull to the road was a Glaucous Gull. Possibly the same that Ed found back in October. 019_1241 by Gord G, on Flickr It spotted this small worm and wolfed it down 019_1221 by Gord G, on Flickr At first light with the setting moon a flock of Cackling Geese flew past in front of it 019_1142 by Gord G, on Flickr It was nice to have a sunny day!

This morning at the intersection of McGuire and Chilliwack River Roads I saw a young Glaucous Gull. I stopped by Lickman Road to see if the ones were there eating the salmon but I didn't see any gulls at that time. I'm told they're more of an afternoon visitor to Lickman Road.
Good luck to all who are doing the Chilliwack Christmas Bird Count tomorrow. Let's hope this rain and wind we currently have going on blows through and gives us an OK day!

Two Glaucous Gulls were among the gull flock picking at the salmon carcasses along the Vedder River at the Lickman parking lot early this afternoon.

Today there was a Glaucous Gull in a field between the highway and Prairie Central Road just east of Chilliwack River Road. I saw it in the morning and it was still there in the early afternoon. It was flying in the afternoon so it's not injured. Jamie noticed it on Sunday (we forgot to report) in the same field so it's very much attached to that spot.

A Glaucous Gull continues to be hanging around the area. Friday I saw a very pale gull circling over the Superstore. Late in the afternoon in a field on Luckakuck just east of the Superstore there it was. It's been a good year for them. 021_3044 by Gord G, on Flickr

Hello Birders
One of the Glaucous Gulls previously reported continues in the field just south of Hwy 1 and east of the railway tracks along Luckakuck Way. The bird was very obvious.

Good spotting Jason. Cool how it's hanging around and sometimes by itself.

This morning the Glaucous Gull was in the field west of Prest Road across the highway from the airport. I saw it from the highway but possible to see it from Prairie Central Road I suspect.

Once again the Glaucous Gull was in the same field yesterday as the 28th. And again today with a small flock of other gulls around midday. Later that afternoon I saw it or another one on Chilliwack River Road south of Prairie Central Road.

The Glaucous Gull put on a good show for some birders midday today on Prairie Central about halfway between Prest and Chilliwack River Roads. Neat that it's been so reliable in this area for a few weeks now.

Yesterday afternoon I came across a different Glaucous Gull on Prairie Central down by Gibson Road. This one is a year older from the one we've been seeing at lot though the winter. The grey feathers on the back are starting to come in. I also saw a couple California Gulls; first spring migrants! Will we see our first swallows late next week?
