Today we saw a male Evening Grosbeak bring two young to our backyard. We saw him feed the little ones while they frantically flapped their wings. It seems late for young ones but Evening Grosbeaks I understand that they can have a second brood. The flock has been around for a week or so. They have been visiting sporadically all summer but this the first time we have observed the young.

Mike, missed this one somehow. Nice to hear of them breeding. I don't think they do so all that often in our area. I agree on the second brood theory.

Hi Gord Yes, this is unusual for our back yard. We have Blackheaded Grosbeaks May to September and they nest in our back woods. The Evening Grosbeaks are sporadic but seem more common these last few years.
