Today, in Manning Park around Lightning Lake I saw a snake that was all gray with not stripes.
Could it be a Gartner snake or something else?

Some Western Terrestrial Garter Snakes of the subspecies that would be found in Manning Park have been known to be almost all black. The other possibility is Rubber Boa.

Rubber Boa crossed my mind. A species I have always kept an eye out for but never seen myself. Any pics? Or any hints on finding a boa locally?

Thanks, definitely looked like a Rubber Boa. Was different than any Gartner Snake I have seen.
Dave, unfortunately I did not get any photos.

I've seen them at East Sector Park at the NE corner. Alligator Lizards are here as well. I've seen photos of ones seen on the Kettle Valley Railway Trail and Othello Tunnel area. Chris, they do look like a dark greenish bike tire tube or something. Tail is shaped similarly to the head as well. Odd creatures!
