A quick jaunt up to Flatiron and lake yielded 3 hen WT Ptarmigan with 5 chicks each in tow. I hiked up the rock slabs and snow of the basin above the lake and found them all there. Pics on Ebird

Ed, great tally of Ptarmigan. Saw your photos on EBird and they are awesome! Really liked the hen and chick together.

Hi Ed Your photos on ebird are great. Thank you. That was one of our favorite hikes. There is nothing better than dipping your bare feet into that alpine lake. On one of our last hikes to Flatiron, over 10 years ago, we observed a large herd of Mountain Goats with several kids playing in the alpine. Have you ever seen them on your hikes to the area?

Yes John it is always a great hike, I was hiking by 6 am but the day warmed up a lot.
I don’t recall seeing mountain goats up there, although I’ve seen many in the greater area👌🏻
