Spent the last few days in Osoyoos. Overall I found it relatively quiet but the heat and time of year probably didn’t help. The highlight was seeing my first rattlesnake on the trail to White Lake. I was very close to it when I heard a rattle noise coming from the bush just near the trail. As a result, I took a few steps back. Tallied 88 bird species. Was hoping for Black-chinned Hummingbird and Grasshopper Sparrow as those would have been lifers but didn’t get them. California Quail on White Lake Fairview Rd. One of my favourite bird species. They have so much personality. Eastern Kingbird on Road 22 American Goldfinch on the Kettle River trail along Skaha Lake Bank Swallow Kettle River tail again Ruddy Duck Mahoney Lake Vesper Sparrow Nighthawk Road Lewis Woodpecker Kettle River Protected Area The Kettle River Protected area is just north of Rock Creek. First time I had been there and it's a beautiful area on the rebound from a forest fire that occurred in 2015.
