I went with John Vooys and Larry yesterday to try for the Yellow-breasted chat that has been seen in Surrey, as well as the Pacific golden-plovers in Delta. After some waiting in the sighting area at Surrey Bend Regional Park, we finally got some good views of the chat . This was a Canada bird for both myself and Larry. ebird.org/checklist/S69014968Though we searched hard for the golden-plover in a couple of plowed fields along 104th Street, we had no luck. That being said, both fields had other shorebirds such as Whimbrels, Black-bellied plovers, a few Dunlins, a couple of Killdeers, and a Wilson's snipe. Any chance of spotting the PGPLs disappeared when a Peregrine falcon flew by and spooked all the birds into flight.
