About 15 minutes ago, driving down Highway 1 near the Vedder Bridge, there were four large white birds with black primaries flying over, parallel to the highway. They were unmistakably American White Pelicans, with a Sandhill Crane following closely behind. They were all flying west, towards Abbotsford.
The pelicans were a lifer for me, and not a bird that I expected to see in the Fraser Valley any time soon.

That was quite the sight! The crane following along was very interesting to see as well. It's been a long time since I last saw a pelican. 2004 to be exact!

Oh to be in the right place at the right time, lucky you! Now the question do I search the area in hopes they stayed overnight or do I assume they ended up heading to the interior overnight.
