Yesterday I did my usual walk around my place and I would have to say I was very pleasantly surprised! A handful of FOYs for me and a number of other migrants hanging around. I still have some waterfowl around, including wood ducks, GW teal, mallards, and a female bufflehead. The ring-necked ducks seem to have moved on. I had a flyover of 3 common mergansers as well, which is not one I commonly come across at my place. Some FOYs included: Vaux swift Hammond's flycatcher Lincoln's sparrow Wilson's warbler Here's the Lincoln's sparrow that was hiding in some dense covering of course: I also had at least 20 yellow-rumped warblers and 3 orange-crowned warblers. The OC warblers did not cooperate for any photos but I did manage a distant one of a somewhat out of focus YR warbler with a crane fly: I had a YR warbler visit my water feature at dinner time the other day too, which was a nice surprise: Overall I had 38 species, which is a very high count for me. I added 3 additional species later in the day as well (rufous hummingbird, Steller's jay, and EC dove). Here's my list: Canada Goose 4 Wood Duck 1 Mallard 35 Green-winged Teal 2 Bufflehead 1 Common Merganser 3 Vaux's Swift 1 Anna's Hummingbird 1 Glaucous-winged Gull 1 Cooper's Hawk 1 Downy Woodpecker 1 Hairy Woodpecker 1 Northern Flicker 1 Hammond's Flycatcher 1 Northwestern Crow 2 Common Raven 1 Black-capped Chickadee 1 Chestnut-backed Chickadee 1 Violet-green Swallow 1 Barn Swallow 1 Bushtit 1 Ruby-crowned Kinglet 6 Brown Creeper 1 Bewick's Wren 1 European Starling 4 American Robin 6 House Finch 2 Pine Siskin 6 American Goldfinch 2 Dark-eyed Junco 4 White-crowned Sparrow 1 Song Sparrow 6 Lincoln's Sparrow 1 Spotted Towhee 4 Orange-crowned Warbler 2 Common Yellowthroat 1 Yellow-rumped Warbler 20 Wilson's Warbler 3
