Got to see the Yellow-browed warbler with John Vooys, Ed, and Larry on Tuesday. On the way there, we did some birding from the ferry. The sun came up just as we got to Active Pass. Among other species, we saw a couple of Rhinoceros auklets and some Heerman's gulls. Heerman's gull by Joel Schmidt, on Flickr There were about 40 other birders at Panama Flats. After some waiting and looking around, the warbler finally appeared. He/she flitted around a lot and was among branches the whole time, but we were still able to get decent looks: Yellow-browed warbler by Joel Schmidt, on Flickr We did a loop around the flats and saw a good variety of other birds, including some Western meadowlarks: Northern flicker & Western meadowlark by Joel Schmidt, on Flickr This Cooper's hawk got sick and tired of being harassed by a crow: Cooper's hawk vs. Northwestern crow by Joel Schmidt, on Flickr We stopped by the breakwater at Ogden Point, but decided to cut it short because of strong winds and a high tide. Before we left though, we came across a pair of River otters: River otters by Joel Schmidt, on Flickr River otter by Joel Schmidt, on Flickr Our final stop was Island View Beach, where we had a raft of Buffleheads, some Horned and Western grebes, and a pair of Marbled murrelets (a lifer for me). It was a great day!

Nice report Joel. Glad you guys got to the warbler. Also, love the Meadowlark and Flicker in the same shot.
