The ponds at Willband were very active this afternoon (Oct. 7). In excess of 200 Cackling Geese (two large flocks flew in while I was there), Canada Geese, one Wood Duck, 3 Gadwall, lots of Wigeon and Mallard, I Northern Pintail, 6 Green-winged Teal, one Canvasback, 12 Ring-necked Ducks, 4 Lesser Scaup and one Ruddy Duck (male). Also Glaucous-winged Guils, Great Blue Heron, Bald Eagle, Belted Kingfisher, NW Crow, Starlings and Dark-eyed Junco. The Ruddy was in the North pond, the biggest collection of birds was in the middle pond.

Still lots of waterfowl at Willband today (Oct. 8) including the large flock of Cackling Geese and in addition today a flock of Long-billed Dowitcher in the corner at the South end of the middle pond to the West of the viewing platform. Did not see the Teal or the Canvasback today but did see 3 Northern Shoveler.

Great photo of the two species. Thanks for the reports from Willband. I miss going there regularly like I used to.
