Thanks for sorting out those pictures and posting, Thor! Looks like the weather was 'ok' for Condor viewing Nice picture of Sage Thrasher as well...good bird. Dave So is Greater Sage Grouse easier to find than Ruffed Grouse? I seem to be having some difficulty with the later. Were you near the Bodie State Historic Park - according to print the best area....?

Thanks Dave, and Murray. Dave, the Sage Grouse was a gimme to make up for all the dip birds I have not found!! Here's the short story. Staying in a motel/campground near Bridgeport, which is not too far from Brodie. The site bordered sage brush country, and was a little isolated from town, and, therefore quite quiet. I was awake early thanks to the calls of a Great Horned Owl from the trees on the property, when I heard the grouse call in the bush behind the motel. I only had to walk a few feet to see it. Tried to quickly run in and get the camera, but I guess my quick movements spooked it off. So you're right, it was in the same territory as described in the literature. I have also seen one in the extreme south east of Oregon, just after the Nevada border, and in Alberta. Cheers, Thor

Hi Wetlander: Feel free to e-mail me with any questions at thormanson@telus.net. I know Dave, and Murray, also members of this listserve, also have quite a bit of birding experience down there too. Cheers, Thor

Thor, that Osprey looks light. Was it's pigment not typical? Ive never seen one so light.
Great shots! Even in a picture, the condor looks huge and impressive.

Gord: I think, mostly, it is because the picture is taken into the light. Thor
