My family and I went to visit my brother in Victoria earlier this month. It was not a birding trip but I had my camera and we were able to spend some time in his quite birdy yard. Here are some photos: Red-breasted nuthatch: Anna's hummingbird California quail: White-crowned sparrow (juvenile): American robin: American goldfinch: Pine siskin: We spent a couple hours at Esquimalt Lagoon with our two girls each and I just had my 18-135 mm lens but got this gull flying by that I was happy with:

Nice yard to visit. Send along my approval to your brother. Looks like a good active pond there too.
