Recently we bought a squirrel proof feeder. It wasn't long after that the birds started to adapt to the new feeder. Here are a couple photos of an acrobatic pileated adapting nicely. Andrew Foxall

Great shots! Nice to see the birds adapting well too. Only thing more frustrating having squirrels at your feeders is to have squirrel-proof feeders that are also seemingly bird-proof too (or at least for a little while anyway)
A pileated woodpecker doesnt strike me as being that acrobatic!! Nicely captured on film.

I've read that hanging suet upside down also prevents starlings from feeding but doesn't slow down the woodpeckers. You've proven that, Andrew!!!
