Spotted an oddly coloured Goldfinch awhile ago and finally got a few photos of it... Seems an Am Goldfinch male with a yellow cap instead of Black cap. Colour on back is dark, and would make me think juvie or female, but wing colour is clearly male... I would think, most likely some kind of leucistic thing, perhaps a hybrid or just molt? An interesting bird indeed Kev. I think you're right about it being leucistic though. I'm still waiting for your Lesser to show up here at my feeders. I had about 10 American's here this afternoon and quickly scanned through them try to find it! LOL
