Hi- I took these photos two weeks ago. Our resident woodpeckers had 4 sons this year- one was killed. There was some concern early on when the male hairy disappeared soon after their offspring had fledged. This is the first time in 15 years that I've seen one parent rear the young on its own. They're at a point now where she is leaving them alone more and more often, soon to be chased out of the territory. The 3 boys are able to feed from the suet when necessary and are quite the little flyers.
