March is starting out pretty good for birds, so I am hopeful that the weather is on an upturn and that it is going to get even better as the weeks go by. Here are a few pics from the first week on March: Lots of American Goldfinch around Mill Lake: American Goldfinch by Neal, on Flickr And there were quite a few Northern Shovelers on the lake as well: Northern Shoveler by Neal, on Flickr A few Varied Thrush in the trees: Flash of Colour by Neal, on Flickr Of course the American Bittern that many have seen: American Bittern by Neal, on Flickr Lots of Red-tailed Hawks out on the prairie: Red Tail by Neal, on Flickr And today got photos of a White-crowned Sparrow and some Bushtits at Mill Lake: White-crowned Sparrow by Neal, on Flickr Bushtit by Neal, on Flickr Happy birding everyone... Cheers!!!

Some great images! I have yet to see a Varied Thrush this winter. I hear one occasionally in the ravine near my home but I have yet to get my eyes on him. Thanks for the bright spot of color!
