Hi Fraser Valley Birders: Three quick point and shoots of a female and male Mountain Bluebird right where Mac said they would be. There was also a second male. Location: Along Airport Road; ( north side of perimeter road around Hope Airport ). On the airport metal fence, maybe 300-400 metres west of the terminal building ). Taken around 4:00 p.m. Cheers. Wow, beautiful birds! I believe the last two pictures are of a Say's Phoebe though, not a female Mountain Bluebird. Also a great bird for around here!

Dave: I think you are right. I remember from the last time I saw a female Mountain Bluebird, it had some orange on the chest. I've just checked my guides, and it is pretty clear it is a Say's Phoebe. It was associating so closely with the Bluebirds, including flying to them when I arrived, I jumped to a hasty id. Thanks for the correction

Thor I missed the Pheobe later in the day... I caught a glimpse of a bird which I thought might have been a female Mountain Bluebird but I couldn't stay on it long enough..so it's humbling to know that I could have been totally wrong . I took some solace from Peter Dunne : quote:- In size, shape, behavior, and demeanor, suggests and may be mistaken for Mountain Bluebird .
