Larry and I headed out to the Reifel Bird Sanctuary on Tuesday. Our main target was the recently-reported Hudsonian godwit, which we found . This was a lifer for me. There was a good variety of other shorebirds as well. Other highlights included a pair of Blue-winged teals, a few Cinnamon teals, and several Greater White-fronted geese. Tree swallows were everywhere: Tree swallow preening by Joel Schmidt, on Flickr One of the Cinnamon teals: Cinnamon teal by Joel Schmidt, on Flickr And a BW teal hanging out with a Mallard: Blue-winged teal & Mallard by Joel Schmidt, on Flickr Next we checked out the Tsawwassen ferry jetty. There were many wintering birds still present. We saw some shorebirds, including a Semipalmated plover. The main highlight at this spot however was a trio of Whimbrels, also a lifer for me. Altogether we saw 58 species; 40 at Reifel and 25 at the jetty.

Joel, great report and nice photos as well. Congrats on the godwit. Cool to hear there's one around.
