We first did a trip to Reifel. It has been about three years since I last visited. Just outside of the refuge was a huge flock of Snow Geese. Soon they will start migrating north. It is always a lot easier to get photos of Wood Ducks at Reifel. A few Night Herons were still present. As usual they were behind a lot of branches. This Fox Sparrow was very cooperative. There was a Hutton's Vireo present. First one I have seen at Reifel. There was a Ruby-crowned Kinglet nearby. I was hoping they would be on the same branch to get a good comparison photo! A Bittern flew in at one point. I haven't seen in one in about 7 years. Two Ring-necked Ducks We tallied 49 species. Surprisingly, no Rufous Hummingbirds or Yellow-rumped Warblers. We then made a brief stop at Brunswick Point. Highlights included Pacific Loon, Red-breasted Merganser, Plovers.

Nice find on the bittern! I have had no luck with those away from coastal habitats.

Thanks Paul. Checking my Ebird records I have only seen Bitterns at Reifel. They have alluded me in the Fraser Valley.

Thanks Bert and great photo by the way! Willband does seem to be the most reliable area for them in the Eastern Fraser Valley.
