Spent some time at Iona yesterday. There were plenty of waterfowl still on the two inner ponds. Tree swallows were all over the place, and it seemed like almost every nest box was occupied. A Pied-billed grebe and its junior was seen on the north outer pond. I also saw the resident Yellow-headed blackbirds. Some young Tree swallows waiting for food: young Tree swallows by Joel Schmidt, on Flickr A Red-winged blackbird fledgling was demanding to be fed. When I walked by on the far side of the boardwalk, dad flew over to ward me off.
