I saw it again today in the back of City Hall and once again alone so perhaps the Steller's have moved on to nesting and leaving this guy to his own devices. It may not wander as much now too. There's at least two feeders in the immediate area to keep its attention.

After not seeing the jay since mid-March, I heard it as clear as day today in the same location that it was in originally on Southlands. One parent that I spoke to at the school said that they had ID'ed a scrub Jay in their bird book many months ago, and I'm starting to believe her. Maybe this bird has been around a long time but just hadn't been noticed.

I also spotted it briefly in the top of a tree this morning. Neat it's still around.

Yesterday morning I heard the laud raucous of the jay again at the west end of Soutlands. Someone has parrots in a house behind the fence and sometimes they can sound a bit similar and have made me pause in the past wondering briefly if that's the jay. I was sure it was the jay and yes it popped up into a tree then went back down. I went closer to see if there were any others but didnt see anything other than this cheeky bird knocking over the little potted plants the lady who lives there had laid out on a table. I'll continue to keep my eyes open. It will be neat if it had found a mate and has a nest somewhere near by

I saw this (or, unlikely, a different) bird today. It flew over Young Road heading in a SW direction which would have it flying from its typical area where it was being seen. It landed on the roof then the tree top before flying due south across the intersection for a few seconds only to return with what looked like a large nut in its beak and land in the trees near where it had originally landed.
This guy has turned into quite the urban jay. I was watching to see if a second one popped up. Nothing yet.

Nice to see our friend back in the neighbourhood. I haven't noticed it since I've been back at work at Robertson, but I'll certainly keep my eyes open.
