Took a little look around today to see what was to be seen. A Say's Phoebe was at the northeast corner. Looking at the records, this is the earliest spring sighting for Say's Phoebe. But given how early things are this year it's not all that surprising. With an American Robin for scale Information on this species at our website: www.fraservalleybirding.com/Species/Bird%20Accounts/Say%27s%20Phoebe.htmAlong the runway at the northside was a lone Horned Lark No bluebirds were seen but they should be around in decent numbers soon especially as we get closer to April which seems to be a good month for them. I dropped by to see Jack on my way out. An American Kestrel was hunting over his fields and two Tree Swallows were checking out his nest boxes. Fairly quiet there too otherwise. Jack's keen on the upcoming spring migration and is open to having birders to come for a walk this year again keeping in mind to be respectful and courteous of course. His place is always very birdy so his generosity is much appreciated!

Good one Gord. I think that's the first SAPH I've heard of in the province this year. Glad to hear that Jack is well and still open to visiting birders. I haven't been able to find him around when I have dropped in this winter.

Oops! I guess I spoke too soon. Just learned of a Say's Phoebe seen in the Interior on March 8.

Nice sightings Gord!
I was at Rattlesnake Bluffs on the 9th and saw a couple of Say's Phoebes! Also a singing Canyon Wren.

John Vooys and I checked the airport today and found a Say's Phoebe just west of The airport in the field behind Jacks house. There was no other one around so probably the same one. When we drove up and we saw it immediately. One hour later after going around the airport we couldn't relocate it! Ed

Nice sighting Gord. Getting to be a good time to visit Hope Airport now. Good chance of seeing Meadowlarks, Bluebirds, Phoebes and who knows what else.
It's great Jack lets birders take a peek on his property.
