A Clay-coloured Sparrow was seen along the path near the Boat launch parking lot Harrison Lake. It was associating with a bunch of Savannah Sparrows. Ed

Again, nice bird, Ed. A good find for October. Excellent photos of it as well.

I tried to find it after talking with you but was not successful.

Today I enjoyed great looks at the Clay-coloured Sparrow with Dave and Paul Baker who were out from Langley. Nice meeting you guys! Some shots of the bird. .

Good find Ed. We couldn't relocate it today (Sunday). We did see a likely candidate fly into the rocks along the dyke but it disappeared on us. We chalked it up for a Savannah but I keep thinking it was a little different. Did find a Dots and a Dave though. Nice shots Ed and Gord. I see this is my 1000th post. It took 6 years.

This mid-afternoon I saw it at the boat launch but not for very long as there were many people around who quickly came over to see what I was looking at. I ended up sharing about migratory birds to a surprisingly interested group of people. I also sometimes forget what a bit of a 'touristy' place Harrison is. In an attempt at a bit of humour, when the first couple asked what I was looking at in the bushes, I said gravely and with a straight face "a big bear is in there!" which clearly caused a brief moment of panic for the poor people who were enjoying their first trip to Canada (and clearly have heard about our bears). Oops! Back to the bird, I'm a little surprised it has stuck around but hope it does a bit long so Len, Dots and Dave get another try at it as well as anyone else who tries for it. Len, congrats on the 1000th too!
