Pretty quiet around the lagoon. The odd Savannah Sparrow and Pipits flying over. Went past the breakwater and pulled over to the side of the road. (maybe about 200-300m past the breakwater). The lake was calm which made it easier to view the birds. A few highlights, 4 Common Loons, 1 female Surf Scoter, 1 Red-necked Grebe and two Western Grebes. Dropped in at Cheam. Wasn't planning on walking the loop trail. Good thing as it is closed until the Oct 8th. Decent amount of waterfowl on the lake, Mallards, Wood Ducks, Wigeons and Pintails. saw two Blue-winged Teal. Also heard a Gray Catbird calling near the parking lot. This would be the latest record of one in our region.
Had Siskins at both locations.

Chris, for sure the latest by a few days on the catbird. Cool! Nice Blue-winged Teal. We've been getting them regularly the last few falls into October. Wonder if they'll continue.
