This morning, as I pulled into the parking lot, one of the first bird songs I heard was of a Grey Catbird singing in the trees between the parking lot and lake. I was able to catch a few glimpses of it and almost wondered at one time if it was pursuing another catbird (female?) down low. It sang all morning even though there were over 60 grade 2 children in the park and around the picnic area where it was. Later, after calm was restored, I saw it fly up into the Lewis's/Pileated Woodpecker tree and sing from the very top for a while.
Nice bird and great to have back again after about 2-3 years absence from when it was seen on several consecutive summers and even bred at least twice.
Should be a fairly easy find if it keeps to it's habits displayed today.

Woke up early so decided to get a 1/2 hour in at Cheam Lake. Found the Catbird this morning just where Gord said. Thanks!!! I haven't heard the Least Flycatcher around our place for a few days either, but will post if I do.

Good photos and glad you found him! I will be surprised if it does not hang around for a little while.
Keep an ear open for that Least too!

This morning at Cheam Lake I was most pleased to hear a familiar 'mewing' of the Catbirds in their usual location. Not soon after, I heard similar sounds but of a different pitch and was able to confirm at least two newly fledged young begging for food!! ;D ;D
