Had great June 1 morning. Cold and wet, but found a large flooded patch in the corn field off Whorley Rd., which is outside the dyke in Agassiz.
Went looking for 2 Sora I've been hearing for a couple of days. They've been calling all day and well after dark. The Sora are in tall grasses next to the corn field. The flooded area was loaded with ducks (Mallards, N. Shovellers, Cinnamon & Blue-winged Teal, Ring-necks, Am. Widgeon, Wood Duck) and some Can. Geese as well as 2 Wilson's Phaloropes. ;D They're a Lifer for me. ;D
The flooded area plus the sloughs and home gave me 49 species for the morning.
Thanks Butterfly. Next year I hope to up-grade my scope so I can get more zoom. My scope only really works digiscoping at 15X. and those phaloropes were a ways off. Loved your photos of the green heron, and glad you got that odd flycatcher IDed.
