Swainson's Thrush - Hope Airport, Bristol Slough Nice one Kenneth, this seems very early for this species (generally not arriving until late April or early May). ebird.org/canada/barchart?byr=1900&eyr=2023&bmo=1&emo=12&r=CA-BC-FVGlad to see the yellow-rumped warblers returning - they were all over San Diego and seem to winter there. There were many molting into breeding plumage, which was a pleasant sight!

Before I even lifted My binos I could see the eye ring on a Thrush and then had very close views with the binos. I like looking for reasoning on these sightins, I have none for this early sighting.

It's a good time of year for Hermit Thrushes to show up. Would that be possible?

It's a good time of year for Hermit Thrushes to show up. Would that be possible? If I didn't have such good views and the buffy eyering and face were not so obvious I would have thought Hermit as most obvious. It was a bit of a weird observation as I was standing at the edge of the blackberries and it wandered out feeding at the edge of the puddle. It was close and did not bolt until something caused all the rest of the birds to bolt and it just hopped off deep into the brambles.
