Ed Klassen and I did a survey of Sumas Prairie this morning (sat.) and found two grey morph Gyrfalcons perched close together. After a while they flew off together. One as a bit smaller than the other. A pair? This was in the south east "corner" of the prairie. John Vooys, Abbotsford

We did find a Tundra Swan with a bunch of Trumpeters on Dixon Rd.

Nice find, guys! Sounds quite possible to be a pair. Not sure how well they'd tolerate each other otherwise as they can be quite territorial on feeding grounds unless there's a lot of food.

Ed, was it a young bird or adult?

Probably a gray-morph juvenile, and a grey-brown appearance. A bit out of range to tell for sure.

Raymond saw an adult Gyrfalcon north east of the corner of Wells Line and McDermott today.
He also mentioned a juvenile Gyrfalcon was also seen yesterday in Sumas Prairie so there's at least still two around the area.
Raymond also saw a Golden Eagle on Cole Road just south of Campbell. This guy, or another, was also reported yesterday. A video of an adult Golden Eagle was sent to me that was seen last Monday on Camp River Road out in Rosedale. There's more than a couple Golden Eagles about as well.
