Ed and I got a good variety of species yesterday morning. Just over 20 Long-billed dowitchers flew overhead in two or three groups before landing in a pasture puddle, west of Cole Road. These along with some Killdeers were the only shorebirds seen. American pipits were very abundant, and we also saw our first Golden-crowned sparrow of the season. At McDonald Park we were surprised to find a Green heron: Green heron by Joel Schmidt, on Flickr
