I recently came across a group called BirdingPal. Just wondering whether anyone has gone birding with them, and if so, whether they're any good. Here's a link to the website: www.birdingpal.org/

Hi Joel. I have been a member of Birdingpal. The first two lines on the website tells it all: if you travel some place in the world you can contact a birder who is a member and have them show you around. Likewise, if you are a member birders who come from other places may contact you so that you can take them out birding in your part of the world. You would not be paid except for your expenses such as gas and lunches. In the past I have hosted birders from Australia, eastern Canada and the US and once Ed and l toured a fellow from Holland. I have been birder with aBirdingpal in California and Paraguay. I then covered their expences. John

Thanks John. If I subscribe to Birdingpal, would that automatically mean that I have to be a guide as well?

When you join Birdingpal the general idea is that you are prepared to guide people from other places in your area (if you are able). If you are not it would not prevent you from using the services of birders elsewhere. John.
