Was at the Great Blue Heron Reserve and saw signs noting the habitat having been restored for Painted Turtles. Does anyone know if they are actually present there? I saw one turtle but it was too far off to ID. I've heard that they do live in the Fraser Valley. What other locations are they found. I've only ever seen them at Yellow Lake in the Okanagan.

Graeme, if I remember correctly, I am quite sure I saw one at Cheam Wetlands a few years back. Not sure if they are present there currently or not. Did see a slider there a few days ago.

Hi Graeme;
There used to be quite a few Painted Turtles at the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve but lately, we have only seen an occasional one. They are easily seen at Sardis Park sunning with Red-eared Sliders on any available log.

Sure enough! Went to Sardis Park and saw one Painted Turtle. Saw a juvenile Red-eared Slider and one other unidentified turtle as it was fully submerged.
