I visited Silver Lake on the road down to the Skagit Valley and I came across a lot of bird noise and went to check it out. I discovered that a very large Common Raven was down in amongst the tree where a family of Steller's Jays were. Perhaps my presence encourage the Raven to move on but it did leave with a couple Jays encouraging it to leave I continued on my way. When I got back to where I had parked my truck I discovered a family with a motorhome were trying to encourage the Steller's Jays to come down and were offering them nuts and sunflower seeds. They did seem to be hesitant to come down to the food but when they saw me they made such a noise! They came over to my truck and were calling out and the people came over and put some of the food down on the ground where the birds were happy to get something eat. I took a bunch of photos at a very close range and the noise level was incredible. Eventually the adult Steller's Jays seem to be encouraging the younger birds to leave and I left also. I still like to think they were happy to see me and not just the food!
