This year I have not been able to find Lazuli Buntings in the usual spots I knew in the valley. I did not even see any at the Kane Valley when I visited. I decided to make a trip to Island 22 Park as they had been reported reliably there. Late Lazuli Series by Nick, on Flickr And they were there easy to find when you walked out the main road past the dog park until the road/dike curves. There was some conflict going on between two males in the long grass. The problem with trying to photograph them when they perched on the long grass the grass stems bent and the bird was lost to sight quite quickly. It was interesting that the camera picked up the green light reflected off the grass and change the buntings color slightly. I could have corrected in processing but I kind of like it. First of the year! by Nick, on Flickr I ran into Ed and he spotted a female hanging with one male but the only image I got of her was with her head blocked by a branch. But here is her possible mate. Late Lazuli Series by Nick, on Flickr I just liked this image so I will share it. If you want to see more of my Lazuli Bunting images click on the photo and it should take you to my Flickr page and click on Albums. I have one just for Buntings and there are some much better images than these shown here. Late Lazuli Series by Nick, on Flickr Later I ran into Paul and his friend and they tried to help me get some shots of an American Redstart. I got the briefest of glimpses but no images but thanks for the help anyway!
