I have made a several trips to the Hope Airpark in the last week or so. The first day it was very quiet and not much to be seen. The next trip was much more productive and there were 8 mostly hanging out between the weather station and the terminal building and out to the runway. It was a little later in the morning and it was quite bright so most of my images ended up being backlit. Mountain Bluebirds by Nick, on Flickr
Yesterday I had trouble finding them at first but Paul mentioned he saw them on Jack's farm fields just west of the airfield. When I checked them out I found 9 and they flew on both sides of the road between the fields. I suspect that when they disappeared they were not too far away and if I had wanted to stay longer I could have driven around and found them.
It seems that the area around the Hope Airpark is getting better daily so have some patience and wander around lots of neat birds to see; Western Meadowlarks, Northern Shrike, Red Crossbills, Northern Flickers, Turkey Vultures, Pine Siskins, Say's Phoebe and lots and lots of Robins! Good Birding!
