What settings do folks adjust when adjusting exposure/highlights/lowlights using their image editing software? Gord was saying he uses "Curves". Seems that levels may also be a way to do this? Any thoughts or suggestions are welcomed!

Corel Paintshop Pro but I recall Photoshop having similar options.
I'm open to other recommendations too!

I use Photoshop Elements. And shot in JPeg I also try and shot 1/2 - 1/3 stop underexposed. This gives me more information to work with.
After cropping I first try the auto feature called Smart Fix. If I like what I see I stop. Sometimes I further adjust the contrast using Lighting but I never add more sharpening. My opinion is less adjustments is best.
I have taken a 2 day course in using curves but never use it. If I shot in raw then maybe.
