There's been an interesting visitor to the neighbourhood by way of a Snowshoe Hare in Sardis. While out trick and treating I saw an odd rabbit that demanded a closer look. As we crept closer, the kids mentioned seeing a darker coloured rabbit in the yard recently. Getting close enough with the flashlight I could see for sure a big hind feet of a Snowshoe Hare. I was sure that a princess, dragon, dinosaur, chef and a hungry looking dad (anticipating his 20% cut of the evening's take) would have for sure spooked it off! I've never seen a snowshoe away from the mountains before although can remember many years ago during what must have been population spike seeing several of them along Chilliwack Lake Road. We've not seen it since but there's a pair of Barred Owls around so maybe that's not surprising.
