So last week at Campbell Valley Park I took this photo. When I took it I thought it was probably a Junco (I had my sunglasses on and couldn't see it well in the viewfinder), but when I saw it on my computer it has blue feathers. It has been suggested it is a female bluebird, but thought I would post to see if anyone has an idea? Cheers all. Bird with Blue by Neal, on Flickr

The shape and size definitely look like junco. Why there's blue has got me beat.

Definitely a junco. Could the blue be an artifact of light or maybe some slight iridescence?

I think this might be a Slate-colored Junco. I can't seem to upload a photo here (keeps saying it tis too large; not my photo) so I have tried to post a link to the photo. If the link doesn't work just Google northwestbirding.com then click on Juncos and scroll down to the photo from Silver Lake. It looks very similar to your photo. Sorry for the confusing post but hope it helps. northwestbirding.com/OhioBirds/Images12/silver_lake_dark-eyed_junco_10-18-12.jpgPS: What is the trick to get a photo to upload? Derek

Strange bird Neal. Have you tried posting it on "Birding In BC"? You got a good shot of it. Just in case someone else heads out there, could you give a more specific location?

Neal, a neat discovery. I agree it's a junco and a young one at that. The grey feathers contrasting with the brownish feathers might make the new feathers look brighter? To me on my screen the feathers are a blue grey but more grey than blue grey if that makes any sense . Derek, you can upload to Flickr or how you did it there works as well.

Thank you to all for your input. The bird was seen on the trail leading immediately west from the parking area about 1/3 of the way to the bridge. Sounds like it is probably a Junco. Cheers.
