Whenever I go to Manning Park I make a point of stopping at the store and restaurant to check out the Hummingbird feeders. Yesterday at 6:30 a.m. there were only two Rufous Hummingbirds using them. When I came back around 11;00 a.m. there were at least 6 and it was very active. There seemed to be one adult male and the rest were either females or juveniles. In previous years I remember a lot more birds. I heard that the adult males leave earlier to head south, when would they be leaving the Manning area? I was not able to get the kind of photos I hoped to and I am considering going back. My own feeder only gets one bird once or twice a day and the angle is no good for photography. Does anyone know of other publicly accessible feeders which may have an active population? Thanks! Rufous Hummingbird by Nick, on Flickr

The Heron Reserve has feeders and might have Rufous Hummingbirds visiting.

We have been getting Rufous at the Heron Reserve, although I did not notice any yesterday. This may be due to the fact that the feeders need refilling and I didn't get around to doing it...
