I got a new camera, a Canon 40D, a few days ago. Me and my dad went to Sardis Park to test it out. I really like how much more crisp and clear the photos are now. Cackling Goose by Jamie, on Flickr Canada Goose by Jamie, on Flickr This Mallard came close and asked for a photo while I was photographing the above geese. Mallard Drake by Jamie, on Flickr There were a few American Wigeon. This guy was quite cooperative. Male American Wigeon by Jamie, on Flickr Male American Wigeon by Jamie, on Flickr This Eurasian Wigeon came fairly close but was difficult to get a good picture of. This is the best I could manage. Distant male Eurasian Wigeon by Jamie, on Flickr The leucistic crow was still around. It was building a nest with another crow, so they are probably a pair. They were both snapping sticks of a tree and then flying to another nearby tree with said stick. I couldn't get any good photos of the crow today, since it kept going against the white sky. I'm very pleased with this new camera and the quality of photos it takes.

Awesome shots, Jamie! Congratulations on the new camera! You mentioned the Crow had a white sky behind it. On page 93 of your manual, you can find out how to adjust the exposure compensation to get more colour and detail on a bird with a white sky behind it. Hope you had a wonderful birthday! Looking forward to more of your great photos! Bruce and Joanne

Congratulations on the new camera, I hope you have lots of fun with it. I look forward to seeing your efforts on Flickr and here. If you have problems with it, Utube has great videos about all aspects of camera work and likely many on your camera also. Good shooting!
