Came across some cool new research into Anna's Hummingbirds from the BBC. The BC Bird site had a link to an exotic Spatuletail Hummer from Peru. A BBC crew has filmed it's mating ritual for the first time... What an incredible bird! Got to love Sir. David Attenbourgh!
A little closer to home, a couple of related stories on the BBC site were about Anna's Hummingbirds. The Peru hummer was found to make a clicking noise with their mouths, while Anna's produce it with their tails like snipe. And of course they are faster than jets... literally!!! http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/8091944.stm
