Bird Alert for October 29th, 2009
An immature Northern Goshawk was seen flying in Agassiz over Limbert road.

Bird Alert for October 28th, 2009
A Pacific Loon was seen flying over the Harrison River bridge.

Two Snow Buntings were spotted around Harrison Lagoon.

The season's first Trumpeter Swans were seen as two were spotted in Agassiz.

Bird Alert for October 20th, 2009
A trip out to Harrison Lake produced a 'hat-trick' of Scoters, as thirty White-winged Scoters were seen, along with half a dozen Surf Scoters and some Black Scoters as well. Also at Harrison, was one Snow Bunting on the northwest side of the Lagoon, one Eared Grebe, one Horned Grebe and one Red-necked Grebe were seen on Harrison Lake. Two Ruddy Ducks were also seen in the lagoon.
A late Blue-winged Teal was seen at the Great Blue Heron nature reserve at the eastern blind.

Bird Alert for October 19th, 2009
At the end of Tuyttens Road, in Agassiz, nineteen Snow Geese were spotted on a gravel bar on the Fraser River.
From Harrison Lake was a huge flock of over 100 Bonaparte's Gulls avoiding two Bald Eagles, a Red-tailed Hawk and a Peregrine Falcon. Also here was a Horned Lark, Ruddy Duck and Redhead.

A Snow Goose and a Ruddy Duck were seen on Harrison Lagoon.

Bird Alert for October 17th, 2009
Among a flock of Canada Geese, a lone juvenile Snow Goose was seen in East Abbotsford between Dixon and No 4. road in a field.

Bird Alert for October 15th, 2009
A Snow Bunting was again found at Harrison Lake Lagoon. Also here was a Red-necked Grebe and a Horned Grebe.
From the Harrison River at the Lougheed Highway Bridge was a somewhat late Osprey.

Bird Alert for October 13th, 2009
Two White-winged Scoters were seen on Harrison Lake today along with a Red-necked Grebe.

Bird Alert for October 12th, 2009
A Snow Bunting was seen on the north west side of the Harrison Lagoon.
The White-winged Scoter continues near the float plane dock on Harrison Lake.
A Hermit Thrush was found at Cheam Lake Wetlands.

Bird Alert for October 11th, 2009
A White-winged Scoter was seen in Harrison Lake from the Lagoon near the float plane dock.
A late Common Yellowthroat was spotted at the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve.
An out of town bird report. A McCown's Longspur was seen along the Stanley Park sea wall. Also a Lark Bunting was seen on UBC campus.

Bird Alert for October 8th, 2009
A Pectoral Sandpiper was reported from Willband Creek Park in Abbotsford.
Also in Abbotsford were two Canvasbacks on Mill Lake.
From Harrison Lagoon in Harrison Hotsprings was a lone Lapland Longspur.
The first Northern Shrike was photographed at Eagle Point Park in Harrison Mills.

Bird Alert for October 2nd, 2009
A visit to Island 22 produced three Hammond's Flycatchers, several Townsend's Warblers and one Black-throated Gray Warbler.
The Lapland Longspurs continue at Harrison Lagoon, as at least 14 were spotted, along with four Horned Larks and one Red-necked Grebe was seen on Harrison Lake.
An Anna's Hummingbird was a surprise visitor to a feeder in Harrison Mills.

Bird Alert for Sept 30, 2009
The Clark's Grebe was seen at Island 22 again this morning. Also here was a lone Horned Lark.
Harrison Lagoon was productive again with highlight sightings being two Lapland Longspurs, six Horned Larks and four Harlequin Ducks.
A trip up to our Coquihalla boundary on Coquihalla Mountain produced two Golden Eaglesand 10-12 Mountain Bluebirds.

The Clark's Grebe was seen at Island 22 again and has been spotted every day since the 23rd.
The first of the fall Lesser Scaup was seen in Harrison Lagoon.
A White-throated Sparrow was spotted and photographed in Agassiz.

A Clark's Grebe was photographed at Island 22 Regional Park just outside the main gate.

Bird Alert for Sept 19, 2009
A Lazuli Bunting was once again found at Island 22 Regional Park in Chilliwack this morning. Also here of note were a Hammond's Flycatcher and two Pacific-slope Flycatchers. An early Glaucous Gull was a surprise sighting flying past.

Bird Alert for Sept 17, 2009
A walk at Island 22 Regional Park produced a Western Wood-Pewee and two Lazuli Buntings which are rather late sightings.
From out of town in Kelowna, a Lesser Black-backed Gull was seen at Robert Lake today after being initially found on the 15th.

A hike on Mount Cheam produced a variety of species including White-winged Crossbills, a House Wren and the first Rough-legged Hawk.
Six Greater White-fronted Geese were in Agassiz.
A young male Anna's Hummingbird visited a feeder in Ryder Lake in Chilliwack.

An Ash-throated Flycatcher was spotted in Abootsford on the Matsqui Trail between the Mission Bridge and the Sewage Treatment Plant.
On a hike on Mount Cheam several White-winged Crossbills were seen.

Bird Alert for Aug 19, 2009
A Tennessee Warbler was a nice find for the area at the confluence of the Sumas River and Vedder Canal on the Chilliwack/Abbotsford border.
A hike in Manning Park on the Heather Trail produced a Dusky Grouse and her brood and a Mountain Bluebird.
At least one Solitary Sandpiper remains at Cheam Wetlands and a Gray Catbird was seen near the beaver pond.

Two Grey Catbirds and six Solitary Sandpipers were at Cheam Lake Wetlands.
A Northern Goshawk flew over Highway #1 at 232 St in Langley.
