Continuing my report from the Blue Jay I saw first thing in the morning. On Banford Road just south of Prairie Central I saw an astonishing number of Greater White-fronted Geese. A quick scan with my scope balanced on the hood of my van made me figure 110 birds! As I was setting up my scope on the tripod for a better look something caused them to fly and they flew right over me and continued flying in a northwesterly direction. From a photograph of the whole flock in flight I counted 119 individuals. By far the most I've ever seen around here although Murray and Kevin got close to 100 in Agassiz a few falls ago. More info on the species in our area at the link. www.fraservalleybirding.com/Species/Bird%20Accounts/Greater%20White-fronted%20Goose.htmA flock of American Pipits went over and I also heard several Horned Larks at one point too. From here I checked Banford Road near the highway and counted about 250 Black-bellied Plovers and about a dozen Dunlin before they flew in a panic. A Peregrine Falcon was a suspect in causing this mass exodus but I couldnt see one. Then it was on for my last stop to check on the Curlew which was very close to the road and offered great views. Not a bad morning!

Great find on the geese Gord. I have heard of those kind of numbers from the west side of Vancouver Island, but never on the south coast or Fraser Valley.
Also congrats on the Blue Jay. With Cliff's scrub jay in Abby, we have lots of goodies out there to look for right now.
