Harrison was very quiet. No Grebes or waterfowl on the lake, even from the breakwater. Three Savannah Sparrows were around the lagoon. In the lagoon along with a few Mallards were twelve American Wigeon. Bumped into Kevin and had a quick chat with him.
Eagle Point was next. I walked to the bench area. I heard a few sparrows along the way, Song and a few Lincoln's. I also heard a Greater Yellowlegs. The mudflats are really exposed. As a result, there were a few shorebirds there. I scoped out six Pectoral Sandpipers, two Least Sandpipers and one Semipalmated Plover. It was standing right next to a Killdeer which made IDing rather easy. There were a decent number of American Pipits as well. In order to see the shorebirds one would need a scope. In the water were about 50 Green-winged Teal.
Cheam was my final visit. It has a 'fall' like feel to it. Scoped out the lake. Most of the ducks seem to be done molting because the Wood Ducks and Mallards are in their beautiful colours once again. Three Northern Pintails, lots of Pied-billed Grebes, and a few American Coots were present.
The loop trail was fairly quiet, which is to be expected this time of year at Cheam. I heard a small flock of Red Crossbills. Five of them landed, in a tree nearby. Four of them
Before the second bridge there was a decent sized flock of Robins. I managed to see my only two warblers here, one Black-throated Gray and one Townsend's. A Pileated Woodpecker flew in a little ways up.
Townsend's
Pileated Woodpecker
Coming back I came across these three deer.
In the parking lot I bumped into Dave P and had a nice chat with him.
