Am. Avocet in the Lagoon in Harrison this morning with 3 species of Sandpipers! Lifer;D Got Photos will download later...
The birds have been picking up the last couple of days, and I thought I spotted a Solitary Sandpiper yesterday with a couple of Spotted Sandpipers. Went out this morning trying to relocate and SURPRISE! Spotted something big and white from a mile away! I flushed two sandpipers while taking photos of the Avocet. 1 Spotted and 1 substantially bigger. Also a group of 5 small sandpipers, will have to check the guide at home, but I think they are Westerns...

Super sighting Kev and congrats on the lifer! This is, I believe, the fourth record of Avocets in our checklist area. They are amazing birds and great picture as well. With the increase of people during the day it probably didn't hang around long. I might check early tomorrow morning though. I'm curious to know what were the five smaller sandpipers seen.
